Paul Diamond Sanchez, age 52, from Carroll, Iowa, was sentenced on March 23 to serve 78 months in federal prison. Sanchez pleaded guilty on November 20, 2025, to one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and one count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine in federal court in Sioux City.

The case centers around the distribution of at least 35 grams of pure methamphetamine in the Carroll area between July 2024 and May 2025. According to evidence presented during plea and sentencing hearings, Sanchez distributed more than 25 grams of pure methamphetamine on two occasions during the summer of 2024 to an individual cooperating with law enforcement. In October 2024, during a traffic stop, officers found over nine grams of pure methamphetamine in Sanchez’s pants pocket. He admitted that he had obtained the drugs for sale.

United States District Court Judge Leonard T. Strand imposed a sentence that includes four years of supervised release following imprisonment. There is no parole available under the federal system.

Sanchez remains in custody with the United States Marshal until he is transported to a designated federal prison facility.
