Council Bluffs man sentenced to over three years for firearm possession as felon

A Council Bluffs resident, Ronald Lee Behee, Jr., has been sentenced to 42 months in federal prison for possession of a firearm as a felon. The sentencing took place on August 21, 2025.

Court documents state that on October 28, 2024, Behee brought a loaded Ruger LCP .380 caliber pistol with an obliterated serial number to his workplace at Tyson’s Foods. Law enforcement located the firearm in Behee’s locker after receiving a tip. Authorities also found approximately 8 grams of methamphetamine and 4.4 grams of marijuana in his possession. Behee has previous convictions related to theft, controlled substances, and domestic violence.

Behee will serve three years of supervised release following his imprisonment. He is not eligible for parole under the federal system. Additionally, he must forfeit the firearm and pay a $100 special assessment.

United States Attorney Richard D. Westphal of the Southern District of Iowa announced the sentence. The case was investigated by the Council Bluffs Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.

A Muscatine man has been sentenced to fifteen years in federal prison after being convicted for transporting child pornography while on probation for a previous offense. Authorities say he must also pay restitution and serve supervised release after prison.
