The Iowa State Bar Association announced on March 31 that Des Moines will host the National High School Mock Trial Championship from May 7 to May 9. The event will bring together 48 teams, including champions from 44 U.S. states as well as international participants from Guam and South Korea.

The championship is an opportunity for high school students to demonstrate their advocacy and courtroom skills in a competitive setting. Students are scheduled to arrive between May 4 and May 6, with registration, orientation, and the traditional pin exchange set for May 7. Competition rounds will take place on May 8 and May 9.

Organizers say volunteers are still needed for roles such as courtroom liaisons and event support throughout the championship.

The National High School Mock Trial Championship is expected to highlight student achievement in legal education while providing valuable experience in a real-world setting. The Iowa State Bar Association, along with its members, staff, and partners, will coordinate efforts to ensure the success of this national event.
