Jonathan Reed Snow, a 25-year-old resident of Dubuque, Iowa, pleaded guilty in federal court in Cedar Rapids to one count of distributing child pornography.

During the plea hearing, Snow admitted that from September 2023 to August 2024 he used the Internet to distribute images depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct. Evidence presented at an earlier hearing indicated that Snow also received and possessed child pornography, including material involving prepubescent children, between June and August 2024.

The case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a national initiative started by the Department of Justice in May 2006. The program aims to address child sexual exploitation and abuse by coordinating efforts among federal, state, and local agencies. More information about Project Safe Childhood can be found at www.usdoj.gov/psc. Resources on Internet safety education are also available through this site under the “resources” tab.

Sentencing will take place before United States District Court Chief Judge C.J. Williams after completion of a presentence report. Snow remains in custody with the United States Marshal while awaiting sentencing. He faces a mandatory minimum sentence of five years and up to twenty years in prison without parole, as well as a $250,000 fine, $40,100 in special assessments, and lifetime supervised release following imprisonment.
