Michael Scott Boen, II, age 33, from Dubuque, Iowa, was sentenced on March 17 to ten years in federal prison for distributing more than seven pounds of methamphetamine.

Boen pleaded guilty on July 23, 2025, to distribution of a controlled substance following a conviction for a serious drug felony. The case highlights ongoing efforts by law enforcement to address the trafficking and distribution of illegal drugs in the region.

According to evidence presented at sentencing, Boen sold over seven pounds of methamphetamine between September 2024 and January 2025. In October 2024, officers stopped Boen in Dubuque and seized twelve grams of methamphetamine from his vehicle. Two weeks later, he attempted to trade a stolen firearm to a drug dealer in exchange for additional methamphetamine. A search of his residence in January 2025 uncovered more methamphetamine.

United States District Court Chief Judge C.J. Williams handed down the sentence in Cedar Rapids. In addition to the prison term, Boen must serve an eight-year term of supervised release after completing his incarceration. There is no parole available in the federal system.

The sentencing underscores continued law enforcement focus on curbing drug-related offenses and associated criminal activity.
