Jammonttay Coleman, a 35-year-old resident of Fort Dodge, Iowa, has pleaded guilty to the illegal possession of a firearm. The plea was entered on July 7, 2025, in federal court in Sioux City.

During the plea hearing, evidence revealed that Coleman knowingly possessed a stolen Smith & Wesson 9mm pistol on August 25, 2024. The firearm had an attached magazine capable of holding 17 rounds. Coleman admitted to possessing the weapon despite being prohibited due to prior felony convictions for burglary and assault while participating in a felony. He also acknowledged being a user of marijuana.

As a felon and user of controlled substances, Coleman was barred from possessing firearms or ammunition. Sentencing will take place before United States District Court Judge Leonard T. Strand once a presentence report is completed. Coleman remains in custody with the United States Marshal until sentencing. He faces up to 15 years in prison, a $250,000 fine, and up to three years of supervised release following imprisonment.
