Alan Eugene Beier, 61, of Fort Dodge, Iowa, has been sentenced to federal prison for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. The sentencing took place on August 19, 2025, in Sioux City before United States District Court Judge Leonard T. Strand.

According to court records and evidence presented at the hearings, the case began on September 14, 2024. An officer from the Clear Lake Police Department responded to a report about a dark-colored motorcycle with a dim headlight and no taillights. After locating and stopping the motorcycle, police arrested Beier for driving violations.

During a search of Beier and his motorcycle, law enforcement found $864 in cash along with illegal substances: 10 grams of cocaine, 82 grams of marijuana, and 235 grams of methamphetamine. Beier admitted that he had purchased these drugs in Minnesota for $2,600 before being stopped by police. He also acknowledged plans to sell the methamphetamine in Northern Iowa.

Beier received a sentence of 42 months in federal prison followed by three years of supervised release. There is no parole available in the federal system. He will remain in custody under the United States Marshal until transfer to a federal facility.

Judge Leonard T. Strand presided over the sentencing.
