Anthony Neuroth, 49, from Kamrar, Iowa, pled guilty on March 25 in federal court in Sioux City to one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and one count of distributing methamphetamine.
The case is significant because it involves the distribution of large quantities of methamphetamine over an extended period. Authorities say that from about November 2022 through February 2024, Neuroth conspired with others to distribute more than 150 grams of methamphetamine. He also admitted during his plea hearing that he distributed half-ounce quantities of the drug on four occasions in 2022 and 2023 to an individual cooperating with law enforcement.
Neuroth has a previous conviction for similar offenses. In September 2007, he was convicted in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Iowa for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and aiding and abetting another person in its distribution.
Sentencing will take place before United States District Court Judge Leonard T. Strand after a presentence report is prepared. Neuroth remains in custody pending sentencing. He faces a mandatory minimum sentence of ten years’ imprisonment and could receive up to life imprisonment, an $8 million fine, and at least eight years of supervised release following any prison term.
The outcome underscores ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to address illegal drug activity within Iowa communities.
