A Honduran national has been sentenced to 102 days in prison for unlawfully using fraudulent identification documents. Ramon Calderon-Rivera, aged 37, was sentenced after pleading guilty on April 24, 2025.
Calderon-Rivera admitted to using a fake Social Security card and a California driver’s license to prove his work authorization in the United States. These documents were used when he completed employment and tax forms at an Iowa business in November 2023. The Social Security number belonged to another individual. Both types of documents are required by law as proof of authorized stay or employment in the U.S.
The sentencing took place in Cedar Rapids under United States District Court Chief Judge C.J. Williams. In addition to his prison term, Calderon-Rivera will serve a three-year supervised release period following his imprisonment. It is noted that there is no parole available within the federal system.
