The Iowa State Bar Association announced on March 25 that its Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Seminar will take place on Friday, April 24 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The event is open to mediators and arbitrators seeking continuing legal education and professional development, and will be held at the ISBA Building with an option to attend via live webinar.
The seminar aims to help practitioners improve their skills and stay updated in the evolving field of alternative dispute resolution. According to the announcement, programming begins on Thursday, April 23 with a complimentary in-person dinner followed by a remote keynote address from Susan Guthrie. Guthrie’s presentation will focus on practical strategies for strengthening personal branding, refining marketing efforts, and building a reliable referral network.
Friday’s agenda features sessions led by experienced professionals in the ADR field. Highlights include “The Future of ADR” presented by Katherine Gloede and Joseph Padjune of the American Arbitration Association, as well as “Like It’s Your Job: Reoccurring Issues in Employment Arbitration and Mediation” led by Kelsey Knowles of Belin McCormick PC.
Organizers say the event is designed for those looking to sharpen their practice through substantive updates, practical applications, and discussions about future trends in ADR.
As alternative dispute resolution continues to grow as an important area within legal practice, events like this provide opportunities for ongoing learning and connection among professionals.
