The Iowa State Bar Association announced on Apr. 1 the release of new and updated family law forms within the IowaDocs library, making them available for immediate use.
These changes are significant for legal professionals who handle family law cases, as they aim to streamline document preparation and improve consistency across filings.
According to the association, the new forms were developed using materials from the LexisNexis Family Law manual. The expanded collection covers a range of topics including dissolution of marriage, child support matters such as income withholding and satisfaction of judgment, paternity actions with petitions and motions for genetic testing, discovery tools like interrogatories and requests for admissions, name change petitions for both adults and minors through EDMS (Electronic Document Management System), conciliation motions with related court appointments, writs including habeas corpus applications, as well as various financial and procedural documents like affidavits of financial status.
In total, thirty-five updated or new forms are now available in IowaDocs. The association said that more will be added over time as part of ongoing updates to the library.
The system also allows users to save client information once so it can be automatically used across multiple documents without repetitive data entry. This feature is intended to help lawyers prepare accurate documents more efficiently.
