The Iowa State Bar Association announced on Apr. 1 that it is seeking event crew volunteers for the 2026 National High School Mock Trial Championship, which will be held in Des Moines from May 7 to May 9. The competition will host 48 teams, including champions from 44 U.S. states as well as international teams from Guam and South Korea.

The call for volunteers comes as the ISBA prepares to welcome students and guests to the multi-day event. Organizers say that while all judge positions have been filled, there remains a need for individuals willing to assist with various aspects of event operations.

Event crew roles include helping with setup and cleanup, directing attendees and providing wayfinding support, staffing the merchandise table, and supporting general event logistics. Volunteers are encouraged to contribute whether they can offer a few hours or an entire day during the competition period.

According to organizers, students will arrive in Des Moines between May 4 and May 6. Registration, orientation sessions, and a traditional pin exchange are scheduled for May 7 before competition rounds begin on May 8 and continue through May 9.

The ISBA says volunteer support is essential in creating a welcoming environment for participants traveling from across the country and abroad.
