A Honduran citizen was sentenced to 92 days in federal prison for illegally reentering the United States after having been deported twice before. Yoni Omar Alvarado-Gomes, also known as Jhonny Ramos Campos, age 35, pleaded guilty on May 28, 2025, to one count of being found in the United States after illegal reentry.
During his plea hearing, Alvarado-Gomes admitted that he had previously been deported from the country and returned without government permission. His prior removals occurred in 2009 and 2013. On April 26, 2025, immigration officials discovered him at the Tama County Jail following his arrest on state charges for driving without a license and speeding.
United States District Court Chief Judge C.J. Williams handed down the sentence in Cedar Rapids. In addition to the prison term, Alvarado-Gomes will serve a one-year term of supervised release after completing his incarceration. Federal law does not allow parole.
Alvarado-Gomes is currently held by the United States Marshal’s Service until he can be transferred to immigration authorities.
