Wenona Oropeza, a 48-year-old resident of Omaha, Nebraska, has been sentenced to more than ten years in federal prison for her role in a methamphetamine distribution conspiracy. Oropeza pleaded guilty on October 22, 2025, to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.
According to evidence presented during plea and sentencing hearings, Oropeza arranged for others to drive her from Omaha to Sioux Falls, South Dakota multiple times between 2024 and 2025. She transported several ounces of methamphetamine with the intention of selling it in Sioux Falls at higher profits.
On March 2, 2025, law enforcement stopped a vehicle near Sioux City in which Oropeza was a passenger. Officers seized over 50 grams of pure methamphetamine that she admitted was intended for sale in Sioux Falls.
United States District Court Judge Leonard T. Strand sentenced Oropeza to 130 months in prison. After serving her sentence, she will be subject to five years of supervised release. Federal prisoners are not eligible for parole. Oropeza is currently held by the United States Marshal’s Service pending transfer to a federal facility.
