An Oxford man has been sentenced to 156 months in federal prison for attempted enticement of a minor and receipt of child pornography. Eric Gene Rundle, 44, was sentenced on June 25, 2025, following his communication with an undercover law enforcement officer posing as a fifteen-year-old girl. According to court documents and evidence presented at sentencing, Rundle planned to meet the supposed minor for sex acts but was arrested at the meeting location.

At the time of arrest, Rundle had a cell phone which was searched. It was found that he used the device to receive, view, and possess images and videos containing child sexual abuse material. After serving his prison term, Rundle will undergo a seven-year supervised release period as there is no parole in the federal system.

The announcement was made by United States Attorney Richard D. Westphal of the Southern District of Iowa. The case investigation was conducted by the Iowa City Police Department.

This prosecution falls under Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to address child sexual exploitation and abuse. The project coordinates federal, state, and local resources to prosecute individuals exploiting children via the Internet and aims to rescue victims.
