A man from Red Oak, Iowa, has been sentenced to 27 years in federal prison for sexual exploitation of a child and possession of child pornography. Tracy Brian Schooling, age 51, was identified after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received CyberTips indicating that an account linked to him had uploaded files containing child sexual abuse material.

Law enforcement officials searched Schooling’s residence and seized electronic devices. Forensic analysis showed that Schooling possessed more than 300 videos and 300 images depicting child sexual abuse. He also produced some of the images found on his devices.

After serving his prison sentence, Schooling will undergo five years of supervised release. There is no possibility of parole in the federal system. He was also ordered to pay $27,000 in restitution.

United States Attorney David C. Waterman for the Southern District of Iowa announced the sentencing. The investigation involved the Iowa Department of Public Safety-Division of Criminal Investigation-Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and the Federal Bureau of Investigation-Child Exploitation Task Force, with support from the Red Oak Police Department.

The case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative by the Department of Justice aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse since May 2006. The program coordinates efforts among federal, state, and local agencies to prosecute offenders and assist victims.
