Jon Waugh, a 55-year-old resident of Sioux City, Iowa, has pleaded guilty to possessing methamphetamine with the intent to distribute it near a protected location. The plea was entered on June 12, 2025, in federal court in Sioux City.

The charges stem from an incident on August 14, 2024, when law enforcement officers approached Waugh outside his apartment due to an outstanding arrest warrant. At that time, he was reportedly en route to sell methamphetamine. Officers conducted a search and confiscated approximately 112 grams of methamphetamine along with $854 in cash. Further investigation at Waugh’s residence led to the seizure of over one kilogram of methamphetamine, a scale with meth residue, drug paraphernalia, and four firearms—one of which was stolen.

During the plea hearing, Waugh acknowledged his intention to distribute the methamphetamine within Sioux City. His residence was located within 1,000 feet of a protected area—a local elementary school.
