Phillip Plummer, a 42-year-old resident of Sioux City, Iowa, received a federal prison sentence of 120 months for methamphetamine-related convictions. Plummer entered a guilty plea on February 10, 2025, to charges including conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and distribution of the drug within proximity to schools.
Court proceedings revealed that from 2022 until May 2023, Plummer collaborated with others to distribute over five kilograms of methamphetamine in the Sioux City region. He confessed to distributing methamphetamine on seven occasions to an individual cooperating with law enforcement. Four of these transactions occurred near schools such as Mater Dei Elementary School and Hunt Elementary School in Sioux City.
A search conducted at Plummer’s residence in May 2023 resulted in the seizure of various controlled substances: 271.7 grams of pure methamphetamine, 155.6 grams of cocaine, 31.6 grams of suspected MDMA, 55.1 grams of suspected marijuana, and additional quantities of suspected cocaine. Also found were two bags containing medicated Jolly Rancher Gummies (600mg THC) weighing 109.9 grams and two vape pens weighing 73.2 grams. The majority of these substances were intended for sale within the Sioux City area.
United States District Court Judge Leonard T. Strand presided over the sentencing where Plummer was ordered to serve ten years in prison followed by ten years of supervised release without parole eligibility under the federal system. Plummer remains in custody awaiting transfer to a federal prison facility.
