A Tripoli man has admitted guilt in a federal court in Cedar Rapids for distributing and possessing child pornography. Austin Kingsbury, 23, acknowledged during the plea hearing that he distributed visual depictions of child pornography between August 2022 and June 2023. Additionally, he possessed such material, including images of prepubescent children, on his cell phone from December 2022 to June 2023.

This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006 to address the increasing problem of child sexual exploitation and abuse. The project involves collaboration among federal, state, and local resources to find, arrest, and prosecute those who exploit children sexually and to identify and rescue victims.
