The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Iowa reported that it collected nearly $27 million on behalf of federal taxpayers during Fiscal Year 2025. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Leif Olson.

According to the office, the funds collected include both civil and criminal debts owed to the federal government. The total also covers restitution payments intended for victims of crime, as well as assets that were forfeited because they were used in criminal activity.

“These collections represent our commitment to holding wrongdoers accountable and returning money to victims and taxpayers,” said U.S. Attorney Leif Olson.

The office did not provide a breakdown of how much was collected from each category but emphasized its ongoing efforts to recover funds owed to the United States and individuals harmed by criminal conduct.
