U.S. Attorney David Waterman has named the senior leadership team for the Southern District of Iowa, with several appointments to key positions in the office.

Andrew Kahl will continue as First Assistant U.S. Attorney, a position he has held since 2022. Kahl has been with the Department of Justice for 35 years and joined the U.S. Attorney’s Office in 1997. He has served in various roles including Criminal Chief and Appellate Chief.

Andrea Glasgow was appointed as Criminal Chief and will also remain supervisor and Branch Chief of the Davenport Office, where she has served since 2024. Glasgow brings 12 years of prosecution experience at both federal and state levels and is noted for her work on overdose-related cases.

Amy Jennings continues as Deputy Criminal Chief, a role she assumed in 2023. She has worked at the U.S. Attorney’s Office since 2011, focusing on sex trafficking prosecutions.

Adam Kerndt joins as Deputy Criminal Chief after serving in the office since 2012. He brings experience from handling cases involving child exploitation, financial fraud, drug trafficking, firearms offenses, and national security matters.

Jason Griess remains Branch Chief of the Council Bluffs Office, having served there since 2023 and previously holding other leadership roles within the office.

Kyle Hanson was named Appellate Chief after joining DOJ in 2023 following more than fifteen years at the Iowa Attorney General’s Office. Hanson has managed over 600 appeals across various courts.

Richard Westphal was appointed Senior Litigation Counsel after joining the office in 1997 and previously serving as Branch Chief of Davenport Office, Criminal Chief, and U.S. Attorney.

Deb Harvey continues as Administrative Officer; she joined DOJ in 2012 after a thirty-year career with the Army and brings extensive logistics management experience.

Madison Lancaster will continue as Supervisory Paralegal; she has seventeen years of federal service including seven years at the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Charlotte Kovacs continues her role as Victim Witness Coordinator Supervisor since 2019. She also serves as a Victim Advocate for DOJ’s Sexual Misconduct Response Unit with twenty-six years’ experience providing victim services.

Muscatine man sentenced to 15 years for transporting child pornography

A Muscatine man has been sentenced to fifteen years in federal prison after being convicted for transporting child pornography while on probation for a previous offense. Authorities say he must also pay restitution and serve supervised release after prison.
