The Iowa State Bar Association Well-Being Committee and the Institute for Well-Being in Law announced on April 29 that they are inviting participation in Well-Being Week in Law, which will take place from May 4 to May 8.

This initiative aims to raise awareness about mental health and encourage positive changes within the legal profession. The week is intended for lawyers, judges, and other legal professionals to reflect on their well-being and adopt habits that support a healthier practice of law.

Each day during Well-Being Week in Law will focus on a different aspect of well-being—physical, mental, emotional, or social. Organizers say participants can engage through activities such as walking, connecting with colleagues, setting boundaries, or practicing mindfulness. “Even small actions can have a meaningful impact,” the announcement said.

The event is inclusive of all contributors to the legal field and highlights the importance of building a supportive culture at every level. The Iowa Bar Association promotes diversity, equity and inclusion in the legal profession according to its official website. The association also utilizes its headquarters in Des Moines for administrative operations and member events according to its official website.
